【摘要】:Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoprovidedataonliquiddrop-sizecharacteristicsforsprays,asindicatedbyopticalnonimaginglight-scatteringinstruments.Theresultsobtainedgenerallywillbestatisticalinnature.Thenumberofvariablesconcernedintheproductionofliquidspray,togetherwiththevarietyofoptical,electronic,andsamplingsystemsusedindifferentinstruments,maycontributetovariationsinthetestresults.Caremustbeexercised,therefore,whenattemptingtocomparedatafromsamplesobtainedbydifferentmeans.1.1Thepurposeofthistestmethodistoobtaindatawhichcharacterizethesizesofliquidparticlesordropssuchasareproducedbyaspraynozzleorsimilardeviceunderspecifiedconditionsusingaspecifiedliquid.Thedropswillgenerallybeinthesizerangefrom5-mtotheorderof1000-mdiameter;theywilloccurinsprayswhichmaybeassmallasafewcubiccentimetresoraslargeasseveralcubicmetres.Typicallythenumberdensityoftheparticlescanvarysignificantlyfromonepointtoanother.1.2Thistestmethodisintendedprimarilyforuseinstandardizingmeasurementsoftheperformanceofsprayproducingdevices.Itislimitedtothosetechniquesandinstrumentsthatoperatebypassingabeamoflightthroughthesprayandanalyzingthelightscatteredbythedropletstoderivesizeinformation.Suchtechniquesdonotproduceimagesofindividualdrops,andtherefore,areknownas"optical(nonimaging)instruments."1.3Themeasurementsmade,whenreferredtotheentirespraybeingsampled,maybefluxsensitiveorspatial,asdefinedinPracticeE799,dependingonthetechniquesusedwithaparticularinstrument.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
