【摘要】:Thistestmethodisbasedonthepenetrationbyaspecifictypeofindentorwhenforcedintothematerialunderspecifiedconditions.Theindentationhardnessisrelatedinverselytothepenetrationandisdependentontheelasticmodulusandviscoelasticbehaviorofthematerial.Thegeometryoftheindentorandtheappliedforceinfluencethemeasurements,suchthatnosimplerelationshipexistsbetweenthemeasurementsobtainedwithonetypeofdurometerandthoseobtainedwithanothertypeofdurometerorotherinstrumentsusedformeasuringhardness.Thistestmethodisanempiricaltestintendedprimarilyforcontrolpurposes.Nosimplerelationshipexistsbetweenindentationhardnessdeterminedbythistestmethodandanyfundamentalpropertyofthematerialtested.ForspecificationpurposesitisrecommendedthatTestMethodD785beusedforhardmaterialsandTestMethodD2240beusedforsolidelatomers.1.1Thistestmethoddescribesatypeofcompositefoamhardnessmeasurementdeviceknownasdurometer:TypeCF.Theprocedurefordeterminingindentationhardnessofsubstancescomprisedoftwoormoreelastomericmaterials,oneofwhichisafoamorfoamlikematerial.Theseareclassifiedascompositefoamstructures.Thecompositefoamproductmayhaveanarmaturemadeofamaterialsuitableforaddingstructuralintegrityincludingbutnotlimitedtometal,plastic,orwood.Thisconstructionistypicalforlapbarrestraints,seating,andotherrestraintdevices,aswellassomeshowelements.1.2Thistestmethodisnotequivalenttootherindentationhardnessmethodsandinstrumenttypes,specificallythosedescribedinTestMethodsD1415andD2240.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.ManyofthestateddimensionsinSIaredirectconversionsfromtheU.S.customarysystemtoaccommodatetheinstrumentation,practices,andproceduresthatexistedpriortotheMetricConversionActof1975.1.4Allmaterials,instruments,orequipmentusedforthedeterminationofmassordimensionshallhavetraceabilitytotheNationalInstituteforStandardsandTechnology(NIST)orotherinternationallyrecognizedorganizations.1.5Thistestmethodisnotasafetystandardasitpertainstoridelegislation.Theuseofthistestmethodisoptionalbaseduponanagreementbetweencustomersandsuppliersoffoamproducts.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
