【摘要】:Anappropriatelydeveloped,documented,andexecutedguideisessentialforthepropercollectionandapplicationofgammalogs.ThisguideistobeusedinconjunctionwithGuideD5753.Thebenefitsofitsuseincludeimprovingselectionofgammaloggingmethodsandequipment,gammalogqualityandreliability,andusefulnessofthegammalogdataforsubsequentdisplayandinterpretation.Thisguideappliestocommonlyusedgammaloggingmethodsforgeotechnicalapplications.Itisessentialthatpersonnel(seethePersonnelsectionofGuideD5753)consultup-to-datetextbooksandreportsonthegammatechnique,application,andinterpretationmethods.1.1Thisguidecoversthegeneralproceduresnecessarytoconductgamma,naturalgamma,totalcountgamma,orgammaray(hereafterreferredtoasgamma)loggingofboreholes,wells,accesstubes,caissons,orshafts(hereafterreferredtoasboreholes)ascommonlyappliedtogeologic,engineering,ground-waterandenvironmental(hereafterreferredtoasgeotechnical)investigations.Spectralgammaandloggingwheregammameasurementsaremadeinconjunctionwithanuclearsourceareexcluded(forexample,neutronactivationandgamma-gammadensitylogs).Gammaloggingformineralorpetroleumapplicationsareexcluded.1.2Thisguidedefinesagammalogasarecordofgammaactivityoftheformationadjacenttoaboreholewithdepth(SeeFig.1).1.2.1Gammalogsarecommonlyusedto:delineatelithology,correlatemeasurementsmadeondifferentloggingruns,anddefinestratigraphiccorrelationbetweenboreholes(SeeFig.2).1.3Thisguideisrestrictedtogammaloggingwithnuclearcountersconsistingofscintillationdetectors(crystalscoupledwithphotomultipliertubes),whicharethemostcommongammameasurementdevicesusedingeotechnicalapplication.1.4Thisguideprovidesanoverviewofgammaloggingincluding:generalprocedures;specificdocumentation;calibrationandstandardization,andlogqualityandinterpretation.1.5ToobtainadditionalinformationongammalogsseeSection13.1.6ThisguideistobeusedinconjunctionwithGuideD5753.1.7Gammalogsshouldbecollectedbyanoperatorthatistrainedingeophysicalloggingprocedures.Gammalogsshouldbeinterpretedbyaprofessionalexperiencedinloganalysis.1.8ThegeotechnicalindustryusesEnglishorSIunits.Thegammalogistypicallyrecordedinunitsofcountspersecond(cps)orAmericanPetroleumInstitute(API)units.Thisguidedoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyandliabilityproblems(forexample,lostorlodgedprobesandequipmentdecontamination)associatedwithitsuse.1.10Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.1.11Thisguideoffersanorganizedcollectionofinformationoraseriesofoptionsanddoesnotrecommendaspecificcourseofaction.Thisdocumentcannotreplaceeducationorjudgment.Notallaspectsofthisguidemaybeapplicableinallcircumstances.ThisASTMstandardisnotintendedtorepresentorreplacethestandardofcarebywhichtheadequacyofagivenprofessionalservicemustbejudged,norshouldthisdocumentbeappliedwithoutconsiderationofaproject''smanyuniqueaspects.Theword"Standard"inthetitleofthisdocumentmeansonlythatthedocumenthasbeenapprovedthroughtheASTMconsensusprocess.
